A Familiar Love Painting

The well-known silhouette of those city skyscrapers, with lights of every colour winking into existence every evening to replace the light of the sky. The familiar triangular shapes of the building that marks the city, it's white tiers glowing, touched with gold on a background of the rich purples and pinks of twilight. The graceful curve of the harbor bridge, adorned with the fairy lights of hundreds of vehicals flying back and forth across it's horizon. The well-trod path beside the beautiful harbor itself, ancient trees arching protectively over it, with worn jetties holding stories of countless moorings and departures over many years. Though each sunset brings new colours as another masterpiece is painted across the sky, the landscape remains the same. The rough sandstone of old Mrs Macquarie's chair, still warm from the heat of the midday sun, echos the warmth of the love of Governor Macquarie for his wife, commissioning a place for her to sit and enjoy the city she so cherished. A place of love and warmth, a place to sit in silence at the end of each long day, and enjoy what is so familiar. The warm sandstone beneath me, I look at the masterpiece painted across the sky, and I thank the Master Artist behind the artwork. How great is His love, that He would paint something new for my eyes to delight in each and every day. My heart is full as I gaze at the home He has given me, the beautiful city which He cares for, of which He is in control. I am at peace, as I enjoy the presence of the familiar love of my Creator.
