Born in Montreal, studied at Montreal's graphic arts institute, 1980. Active. Robert Gaboury, actif sous ATELIER BOBI, est un artiste contemporain canadien né à Montréal en 1957. Après des études en arts graphiques, il s'est intéressé à divers domaines artistiques comme l'architecture, le design et la musique. Pendant près de 20 ans, il s'est fait connaître internationalement en tant que tonmeister, mariant la maitrise des formes et des sons. En 2024, à l'âge de 67 ans, Gaboury est revenu à la création picturale en reprenant sa série "Paysages Improbables" commencée 40 ans plus tôt. Cette série reflète sa vision du monde forgée au tournant des années 2000, notamment après un voyage à Hong Kong qui lui a fait prendre conscience du décalage entre l'humanité et son rapport à la Terre. En l’espace de quelques mois passés en asie, j’ai pris conscience du monstre de la mondialisation et du fait que nous faisons collectivement fausse route. Les "Paysages Improbables" de Gaboury représentent des paysages désertiques, lunaires ou romantiques qui interrogent notre rapport au territoire. À travers ces œuvres apparemment vides, l'artiste invite le spectateur à s'attarder sur la structure et la construction chromatique pour réfléchir à ce qu'elles évoquent.
