About The Artwork
This painting was started at the beginning of the pandemic and became a major project. It was inspired by a scene from German choreographer Pina Bausch. I saw a documentary on Bausch several years ago and was fascinated by her imagery and arrangements. At the beginning of the pandemic I rescued this canvas from being discarded and it made the initial lockdown more bearable. In this large canvas, I tried to capture the intense emotional interaction between the dancers. It was accepted into the Ontario Society of Artists Annual Show in 2020.
