A Perfect Ending Painting

I was painting on location at Haulover Park, Florida one day; creating a new piece at my travel easel. The sun started making its descent rather quickly over the water and my painting wasn't moving along as fast. In order to have that same image for reference later on so I could finish my painting on another day from my studio, I grabbed my camera to shoot some photographs. While I was shooting, the sun and all its glorious reflections cascading onto the bay were creating a striking new image for subject matter. The colors in the sky were rapidly all changing. The water was turning from pale blue tones to teal. The most dramatic change of the scenery I was looking at compared to what I had already painted was that I witnessed a very small boat sailing right into the frame of my camera lens. The boat slowed down at a crawl; passengers most likely watching the sun go down in awe in the same manner I was in. It was an absolutely perfect ending to an innocently beautiful South Florida day on the water. Whether someone was out in a boat on the water or on the docks such as myself, we all saw it! That magnificent palette striking across the sky and waters. A sense of calm and wonder took over me and I knew I had to capture this moment in time onto canvas with my paintbrushes. A Perfect Ending is one of my favorite pieces I have ever created in my entire art career.
