Jackie comes from Banstead in Surrey and is a true artist who only works when inspired. She experiments with oils and various drawing medium and pursues a diversity of work embracing challenging and demanding ideas. She takes great pleasure in creating work that has been stimulated by her experiences of atmospheric landscapes, nature and human emotions. Jackie says "Art and Nature are so intimately related to one another that it is impossible to think of one without the other." Usually making photographic studies and sketches before completing oil paintings or drawings, Jackie strives to create a true sense of inner depth and simple beauty in her work. She endorses Brancusi's belief that simplicity is complexity itself and one has to be nourished by its essence in order to understand its value. Jackie has exhibited with The Society of Women Artists at the Mall Galleries and The Society of Graphic Fine Art at the Menier Gallery in London, won the Bacchus Award at the Denbies Wine Estate Gallery and was a finalist for the Baines Surrey Artist of the Year Award at the New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham. Her work has included exhibiting as a member of Reigate Society of Artists, participating annually in Surrey Artists Open Studios and organising permanent and special ShedArt Exhibitions at various venues in London, Surrey and Sussex. In 2004 Jackie helped to move ShedArt to their present premises in Newdigate where she could be visited in her studio. Jackie was widowed and remarried in 2016 to Rob Sexton. She now has 4 children and 10 grandchildren. March 2021 Jackie has now retired from ShedArt and wishes to thank all her friends and family who have encouraged and supported her over the past 18 years. She says it has been the most wonderful adventure and has many happy memories. Jackie will never stop making and loving Art!
