Adieu - mist over water, is part of my Adieu series where I have started to use a very reflective medium. It is a very significant element of the work because it reflects the viewer mirror image in the deep blue artwork, letting him/her to be part of it, referring to todays "generation selfie" and narcissism. Yves Klein believed that his blue expresses "pure energy" and is associated with pure space and an intangible quality that reached beyond anything material. The use of the gold colour at the same time gives us the transition to immateriality and gold alone has the artistic qualities to transform an object into an artwork. Gold, Klein once said, “impregnates the painting and gives it eternal life.” Gold is the matter that leads to immateriality. Adieu, mist over water is a transition from the bodily to the spiritual. These paintings are never planned — the layers of paint and the textures unfold in an organic process, reflecting my relationship with my surroundings, both past and present.
