Biography: PAWNTHEP CHITPHONG (PT) Artist & Journey Photographer Born June 1976, Suphanbury, Thailand Living and Working in Chiangmai ,Thailand E: thairabbitgreen@gmail.com ?Since childhood, he was enamoured with drawing. He started drawing his favourite comics and branched out as he went. Later on, he fell out of love with drawing, with other interests and needs taking priority. At 18, he began to draw again whilst living with his relatives, who supported him to study photography in Bangkok. After moving out, he lived as a backpacker. This was when he realised his proficiency in painting. Thus, he decided to become a street artist. He drew postcards near Zen shopping mall, Ratchaprasong, Bangkok. He eventually came upon Khao San Road. The small, but life changing street allowed him to meet, converse and work with various characters. Each with different cultures and backgrounds, but possess the same attitude and passions. Pawnthep's first collection, entitled “Time”, was exhibited in 1999 at Comme’ Restaurant. This was where he met several art journalists — Note Udom Taepanich/Cheve Cheva, an editor of Praew Publishing /Note Pongsuang (Dude Sweet), an editor of Lips Magazine — who invited him to work on magazine illustrations and to exhibit more of his works. He started with various style of paintings which were influenced by Thai and foreign artists such as, Pratuang Emjaroen/Thaiwijit Puengkasemsomboon/Udom Taepanich/Kongpat Sakdapitak/M.L.Jirathorn Jiraprawat / Jean Michael Basquite and Picasso. In 2002, he turned his attention to abstract and figurative arts. Nowadays, he creates many abstract art pieces whilst pursuing photography in his spare time. However, he has kept his street artist identity, consequently shaping him into the artist he is today.
