My best work comes when I have let go of any intention and I feel as if the work paints itself. I am used to using brushes, rags and water but in this painting I also used my palette knife and a scraper laying the paint on thickly with abandon. A much more moody and darker palette for me I titled his "AFTER THE WAR" because it feels to me as if it is the calm after the storm and the world has to rebuild/ rebirth itself.
This acrylic on canvas painting wraps around the edges and is ready to hang with wire on the back.

Born in Wisconsin, I went to The Art Institute of Chicago and Italy for my fine art degree. Eventually settling in Washington state north of Seattle. Using color as my primary language, I make large acrylic on canvas paintings inspired by the natural world. Whether this is a simple dandelion or the light on the horizon at dusk my goal is the same. To convey the “essence” of this inspiration through color and form. I paint until I feel moved by something outside myself where the color, composition and the whole combine to give me a sense of the sublime. My current paintings are filled with layers, drips and scrapes giving a sense of time, process, and history. I believe that art has the power to transform us whether it be a painting, a poem or a great song. My work is in corporate and private collections throughout the United States, South America, Europe, and Asia.
