AND YET Painting

This piece was begun after I spent a week in NYC admiring the amazing new buildings there that seem to defy the laws of physics. I set out to create a fragile, frayed, delicate background, in a soft buttery color, on top of which i would place a very extravagant gravity -defying architectural shape. The background mimics some of the patterns in the foreground, but it seems to be coming apart, suggesting that the audacious shape on top of it is bound to also fray. The title is from the haiku poem entitled "World of Dew": The world of dew — A world of dew it is indeed, And yet, and yet . . .”
