ABOUT THE ARTWORK
It all started with a big gestural brushstroke that looked like a dancing dragon, I took the momentum and let my creativity go untethered, I focused on the spirit of the dragon rather than its image. I hope the viewers can see and feel what the dragon symbolizes in Asian mythology and culture; prosperity, health, success, agility, exuberance, courage, happiness......all the abundance in life. Mixed media allows me to act fast without too much planning, the colored shapes within shapes and the movement-suggested lines give the painting so much life and playfulness.
