About The Artwork

This is a one of a kind artwork, created and painted by me /Retne/. Abstract Expressionism/ Dynamic and strongly textured painting with oil on canvas. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Willem de Kooning pioneered the gestural, abstract style of Action Painting that became the staple of New York Abstract Expressionism. I have painted this painting in the style of Willem de Kooning after the training in: "In the Studio: Postwar Abstract Painting. - Willem de Kooning Studio Exercise - by The Museum of Modern Art." This course offers an in-depth, hands-on look at the materials, techniques, and thinking of seven New York School artists, including Willem de Kooning, Yayoi Kusama, Agnes Martin, Barnett Newman, Jackson Pollock, Ad Reinhardt, and Mark Rothko. I learned so much on this course. It gave me a deeper understanding of the works of each artist. I learned a lot about their process and had the chance to use these skills on my own. Here's my interpretation of Willem de Kooning SIZE: 60x70x2 centimeters 23.6x27.5x0.7 inches Ready to hang with a hook on the back. Painting signed on the front. Date and signed on the back.
