Addiction Painting

Nearly all of my life I have lived surrounded by nature and pastoral beauty. For many this would be artistically inspiring, but it has never aroused my creativity. I find my inspiration outside my world. My work is fueled by the disorderly chaos created my many people living in an urban environment. These places fascinate me; often rife with urban decay and the chaos created by the visual overload of these environments. Informational signs, advertising, graffiti, layered paint, and neglect weave a rich tapestry of imagery. Using these urban landscapes for inspiration is artistically liberating. Layer upon layer of disparate images create a visual space with multitudes of styles and colors. These living environments have no designer or art director; they evolve in a process that mimics nature itself.
