Aeolian blue Painting

Original painting in acrylic on canvas. The painting is not framed, but it is ready to be exhibited because the side edges of the canvas have also been painted. The artwork is protected by a final coat of varnish with semi-gloss finish. Title of the piece : "Aeolian Blue". The image represents an "ideal" view of Stromboli and is a fantasy reconstruction of what I would have liked to see when I opened my window during lockdown: blue sea, open spaces. On the windowsill sits a container full of ripe lemons, symbolizing the warmth of home. It is not a desire to escape that inspires this painting, but rather a desire for freedom, for fresh, new air and new, more serene horizons. As for the choice of Stromboli, it must be said that I have seen the island only once, almost twenty years ago now. I was on vacation with some friends and I didn't even take a photo during that trip, but I have very clear memories. Above all, I was struck by our arrival on the island with the boat that approached slowly to this volcano that emerged from the sea and overhung us with its grandeur. And then the walk to the village, the mulberry granita eaten at sunset, the black beach still warm from the sun. How much emotion in that harsh and simple island! Looking back on those emotions, at a time that is now very different, when I am almost forty years old and in lockdown, I think back to that image... to the sense of wonder and terror, to the sense of freedom and beauty, to the full summer sun, to the scent of lemons and the blue of the Mediterranean... and I seem to be breathing again, still! The work is signed and accompanied by its certificate of authenticity.
