ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Acrylic on Canvas. This piece is inspired by Turner. I painted this piece in low light on a very warm evening alone in my studio after dark. I hope that viewers will get a sense of movement forward and back - as if the waves of light and dark are fighting each other. The light glows and anchors the piece as a horizon but the journey there seems risky. The piece has high viscosity with cold wax layers and moulding paste elements. I have chosen to keep it matte vs adding a sheen.

I am a Cree Artist living in Toronto, Ontario. Former Art Gallery owner in Toronto I paint full-time now in my home studio in Eastern Toronto. My influences are Turner and Caspar. I predominantly paint in the styles of Romanticism, Abstract and Abstract Expressionism. I prefer oils but do occasionally produce works in Acrylic. I am currently going thru an phase of multi-media focus with elements such as gold and copper leaf finding their way into some of my large pieces.
