I have an abiding love of Claude Monet's paintings, especially his later large canvasses depicting water and waterlilies. Something about the colours, the depth of field, the abstraction and the large scale really moves me.
This is the first in a series of big paintings inspired by these works, I have been enjoying working on a large scale. It's very liberating!
I use palette knives, rags, brushes and dripping to create a rich paint surface. I work with the canvas on the ground sometimes, and also on an easel. Drips, overlapping colour and layers help to build up a story with the paint.

This sturdy handmade canvas is120x200cm. It currently has unpainted edges. This means that drips from the painting process are visible. If you would like me to paint the canvas edges white, please ask at time of purchase.

It will be fitted with D rings for hanging purposes. These will be sited at the top two corners of the canvas. By putting screws into your hanging site in the appropriate place the painting will hang perfectly.

Currently Sandy sells and exhibits her work almost exclusively online, represented by Saatchi Art and other platforms. She sells both portfolio work and creates substantial commissions for both private and corporate clients. Her work has also been published as fine art prints by Artko, McGaw Graphics, H G Arts and The Art Group. Artists statement: I live and work in Kent, in the South-East of England. I work with landscapes, from which I draw my inspiration. The play of light and shadow, and the in-the-moment experience of absorbing the world around me inform my work. I am also drawn by my memories of a childhood spent outside, the visual impact and pleasure of that still resonates with me. I love colour and texture and in my work am always attempting to use these elements to create a harmonious balance. I enjoy working in an experimental way with different materials, I frequently throw paint at my canvas, and work with the canvas on the floor, dripping paint onto it. The spontaneity that gives me very valuable.
