About The Artwork

Inspired by Victor Polster, the trans ballerina. The painting is full of contrasts - the feminine tutu and the male body, the lightness of ballet and the hard, tough work of being a dancer. The title is ambiguous, it can refer to a show, or to a period in life where we are not true to ourself. Thin layers of acrylic paint create depth, and acrylic ink defines the figure.
