ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This work began in late 2020. It was not a very nice day in Paris, but to stay cheerful in my head I imagined myself at the seaside with lots of sun. I used shapes, colors that inspire us the softness and the shadows projected with a game of material and flat.

I am a woman painter who lives in Paris and have been painting since the nineties. For a long time I approached my work as a researcher conducting experiments. And finally, I feel like saying that painting is first about moments of life, and moments of my life. Through a conceptual approach, I highlight in a formal way moments of painting (cutouts taken from my own paintings) applied on a flat surface. This practice of using cutouts allows me to create abstract forms which communicate the presence and power of color. I have been very influenced by the work of Matisse, Joan Mitchell, Sonia Delaunay, Frank Stella, De Kooning. I like to play with the temporality in painting, when each component piece placed on canvas is unique in its treatment, realization and diverted from its original purpose.
