ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Behold the beloved agave plant, a rosette of succulent or leathery leaves. Some varietals produce tequila, and others a natural sweetener to sugar. It originated in Mexico, but I found this one while hiking in the hills around Santa Fe, New Mexico. I choose these close in perspectives for my painting so the viewer has a feeling of being in nature, even while indoors. The spikes and drips offer a contemporary take on the modern floral.
