"Agavi" is part of the "A World Beyond" series, which is about myths, folklore, concepts and fairytales. Knowledge lost in the depths of time and modern science's persistent and permanent noise. But every now and then, sparkles emerge from the human gene memory, making people wondering for hidden truths.

Agavi is a nereid. In Greek mythology, the Nereids are sea nymphs (female spirits of sea waters), the 50 daughters of Nereus and Doris, sister to Nerites. They often accompany Poseidon, the god of the sea, and can be friendly and helpful to sailors fighting perilous storms, as the Argonauts find the Golden Fleece.
The name Nereides means "Daughters of Nereus" but also "the Wet Ones" from nêro, the Greek word for "water".They were goddesses of the sea's rich bounty and protectors of sailors and fishermen, coming to the aid of those in distress. Individually they represented various facets of the sea from the salty brine, to the sea foam, sand, rocks, waves and currents, as well as the various skills possessed by seamen.
Nereids are particularly associated with the Aegean Sea, where they dwelt with their father Nereus in the depths within a golden palace. They symbolized everything that is beautiful and kind about sea. Their melodious voices sang as they danced around their father. They are represented as very beautiful girls, crowned with branches of red coral and dressed in white silk robes trimmed with gold, but who went barefoot. They were part of Poseidon's entourage and carried his trident.
AGAUE (Agave) A Nereid whose name means "the illustrious." (Hesiod, Homer, Apollodorus, Hyginus)

“I love painting because it's a silent, but universal art. It speaks though all the languages of the world at the same time. It can be translated into quality time, development, expression, serenity. A whole world where everything is possible... ... More than anything, I love portraying the beauty of human beings. To capture the expression, the look. My goal when I paint is to convey the magic I see to the observer. I keep looking, searching, experimenting, since I believe that art, as much as every kind of knowledge, is an internal and eternal processing... " Ageliki is a realist artist from Greece. She grew up at Thessaloniki and after graduation, she studied Fashion Design participating as a designer at Dimitreli's Organization's fashion show at the NTNG (June 1991).
