"Ailleurs" is a work of minimalist spirit. Deliberately abstract, it is nevertheless very inspired by nature, but a nature of the North, of Scandinavia perhaps, of harsh landscapes with sober colors from which emerge calm and power. Earth and black tones punctuate shades of white with a very interesting interplay of textures: natural pigments mingle with acrylic paint, enhanced with charcoal and dry pastels. We find in this work leitmotifs typical of the work of Anne Poitrenaud: an architectural form sketched (towers? religious building?), a very gestural, powerful painting. In this painting, we can imagine reflections, sandstorms, the appearance of invisible elements, in a succession of abstract and deconstructed planes. As in the other works of the "square" series, we find here a square (composed of vertical lines), representation of rationality, of the trace of man on nature.

My visual work is on the edge of abstraction. In my life as in my work, I seek a fragile balance between what is dual: nature and culture, light and shadow, black and white... Energy and life hide in the way from one to the other. In my sculptures, all made of clay, I bring a visceral energy that I transcribe into organic - yet completely abstract - forms. Each sculpture has a different meaning depending on the angle from which it is viewed; it often takes the form of calligraphy. My paintings reflect a mental landscape, with which a human trace (writing, calligraphy, sign or symbol) interacts. I seek to transcribe the power, serenity and mystery of nature. Not by depicting them, but by expressing their abstract essence. From culture, I retain more or less evolved traces, from the crude mark to abstract calligraphy, or the presence of poetry excerpts. It's a questioning that I share through my creations: between nature and culture, between empty and full, between light and shadow, between sky and humanity.
