Al Wathba Salt Lake Painting

I am Nasha Maryam, an Indian Artist residing and based in UAE. For me history, life and nature are that which binds me. Being bought up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and having had travelled, lived and experienced the desert, the thoughts and culture of the peninsula as well as that of the different emirates of the UAE has molded the base inspiration for my complex artworks. For me the desert, the ocean and beautiful places inhabited by beautiful people, the warmth of soil and love, the coolness and simplicity of greenery is where my motivation stems up. Beyond beauty, the cognitive ideas, thoughts and introspection on the grounds of my belief and faith forms the root of my works. Why do I chose to paint the seas? The flowers? The deserts? The sunrises and the sunsets? I have always thought about why I was drawn to painting nature .. and the answer is simple.. I’m a mom of two kids in ages 6 & 4 and though a beautiful blessed stage it is, nevertheless the days and nights could be heavy, impossibly stretched, and most days you find yourself spotting pain points throughout your body.. you love the laughter and hugs and yet balancing it all out takes out your own balance.. more often the mental load of management is what that tires more than the physical load of work. When I paint the seas, the flowers, the sunrises and the sunsets somewhere the chaos rebalances bringing about harmony rather than the abstract art . Abstract art even though I admire and love is a form of art that further triggers chaos for me, where as painting nature brings serenity. There’s a sense of peace and calm that beautifully merges the splendid chaos like the coffee and milk in lovely proportions making the perfect cappuccino/latte! As an artist I enjoy providing thought space to my audience and finding more intellectual meaning in my art. Recently I have been awarded first for my artwork ‘The Mighty Melt’ by The Art Circle for 2023 Art Awards Abu Dhabi in sustainability theme. An artist since childhood, I am embracing and navigating back to my passion in art post exclusive motherhood. I believe the best self love is finding time to do things you love! And that’s the best way to believe in yourself and the impact and magic that you bring to the world.
