ABOUT THE ARTWORK
On 9/21/2018 I went to the Albuquerque Rail Yards as part of a group of creatives allowed in by the City of Albuquerque Arts and Culture Dept. I took hundreds of reference pics from within and around the buildings. I took this pic at 8:09am as the sun was coming through the 100 year old glass windows. The building, which is massive on the inside, was used beginning in 1924 to work on train cars and engines. There are massive doors and train tracks for the cars to be moved in and out. I love the size of the buildings when standing in them now. It feels like standing in the shell of a stadium! I have enjoyed painting these buildings and anticipate painting more of them. They are an important part of why and how Albuquerque was able to grow into a large Southwest city.
