I was born April 28, 1967 in Itapuranga, Goiás, Brazil. I'm a self-taught artist. My art is composed from recycled materials. A piece of wood, a drawer, a tabletop, a piece of tile, a used metal plate, a cardboard tube, an aluminium can, all these discarded objects and with no apparent use, are transformed into artwork. The transformation gives life to characters, figures and objects of everyday life and with strong social appeal. The social issue has always been a concern to me and through my art I can express it. In my work the characters have no face because to society these people do not even have their own identity. They always have a submissive, unprotected posture, having as their companion just the moon or the sun, which looks like a fried egg from their starving vision. Their heads, always viewed from the top, represent the world. The inspiration comes from our daily life, from what is around us. I began in 1982 with oil painting and slowly evolving to wood carvings with use of recycled materials. I make use of mixed techniques, with no restriction to materials, since everything can be transformed. I use several tools, improvising according to my inspiration. Production time is variable and depends on factors such as temperature, size, materials used and, of course, inspiration.
