With the aid of photography and painting experimentation I convey my own language which is complex in structure and very tactile. The last one from Notturno cycle of works is also characterized by abstract texture, with just a little shadow above which contrasts with the original, partly recognizable form taken from the drawing in the sand which I made and photographed in the start. I see my role primarily as an interpreter and researcher of this constant interweaving of the primary rules of visual with both medias, the ways in which change our perception, and the new demands that create in the observer.

Jasna Samarin (born 1966 , Ljubljana, Slovenia) is a painter working in Ljubljana. She concentrates on experimentation with photography and painting which both convey to her perspective and her own language which is very complex and very rich in texture, structure and very tactile. She sees her role as an interpreter and researcher of this constant interweaving of the primary rules of the visual and with the both medias - photography and painting –the ways in which change our perception, and the new demands that create in the observer. Statment: My work is an attempt to confront the enormity of contemporary virtual experience while asserting the humanness of painting. All of my imagery, whether geometrically intact or abstracted, comprises a vocabulary of very simple forms that are digitally manipulated. Using ephemeral, photographed and computer-generated and manipulated images exclusively as my source material, I create paintings that physically assert themselves through the materiality and permanence of historical painting media. The translation from the real to the ‘virtual’ and again to the ‘real’ is paramount. Digital tools enable me to develop a vocabulary of forms that are used, grabbed, reused, and manipulated beyond recognition, resulting in a signature vernacular of marks that are predetermined via photo and digital processing.
