y work starts by creating photo mashups made from found imagery. I rip images from media sources by hand and then layer and reshoot them with my camera. Once I have a composition I'm happy with, I print it on archival paper in grayscale and then hand-stain it with a light acrylic wash. With each piece, I reveal a new story that the original images didn't convey. My work is ethereal, abstract and even strange. Exactly how I like it.

Chris Sallquist is an American artist based in Seattle, Washington. His work unlocks alternate views of the human form as they emerge from the folds and creases of paper photos he bends and warps by hand, then reshoots on a mobile camera. The resulting images are further transformed into tableaus from the collective unconscious, depicting private, yet shared, moments of raw emotion and feeling. His work spans both digital and analog media.
