ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I wanted this piece to be fresh and light, a spring season. Always Greener refers to the adage "The Grass is always greener on the other side." Since a lot of my work involves a France theme, I hid the title in the lower portion of the art for design reasons, and did calligraphy in French "Le Vert est toujours plus brilliant à l'autre coté". Ready to hang. Sides are "gallery wrapped".

My journey into abstract painting has come by way of a 20 yr. career as a Fashion Illustrator and another 15 years depicting cafés and streetscenes of France. Gradually I've pushed the boundaries between representation and abstraction, forging into lost edges and less articulation of subject matter. This last year I've fallen in love with the total freedom that abstraction allows me. Being spontaneous, playing on larger surfaces with loose brushwork-- this is totally seductive. Like the mid-century expressionists, my inspiration comes from the very act of painting, and my own spin is the New Journey.
