ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is a detailed study of an Amaryllis in bloom. The variety is 'Splash' and it has double flowers with scarlet and white colouring. It is grown here in England usually as a house plant and sprouts up from a large bulb. I am fascinated by this plant because of it's bold beauty and I think I have managed to portray how striking the flowers are, especially when you look closely

I am predominantly interested in the natural world and the structures and connections that are inherent within from a microscopic to a massive level. There is a lot of bright colour in my work and my main aim is to create a harmonious balance between the many colours and forms within the composition. Through my work I hope to inspire the awe that I feel about nature and its interconnectedness in others. I use a variety of 2D media and my style is semi-abstract or realistic and there is often a symbolic element involved.
