Eldon is the stereotype of a small Iowa town and a simpler time. On the outskirts of Eldon, you encounter a large open field and your 1st glimpse of one of America's most iconic buildings. The American Gothic House. Designed in the Carpenter Gothic style with it's distinctive upper window. It was the backdrop of the 1930 painting American Gothic by Grant Wood, generally considered Wood's most famous work and among the most recognized paintings in twentieth century American art. This work is sold unframed.
