Amphitrite, in Greek mythology, the goddess of the sea, wife of the god Poseidon, and one of the 50 (or 100) daughters (the Nereids) of Nereus and Doris (the daughter of Oceanus). Poseidon chose Amphitrite from among her sisters as the Nereids performed a dance on the isle of Naxos (Greek island). Refusing his offer of marriage, she fled to Atlas, from whom she was retrieved by a dolphin sent by Poseidon. Amphitrite then returned, becoming Poseidon’s wife; he rewarded the dolphin by making it a constellation. In works of art Amphitrite was represented either enthroned beside Poseidon or driving with him in a chariot drawn by sea horses or other fabulous sea creatures.

Anastasia Anthrakopoulou was born in Thessaloniki - Greece , she is a self-tought artist who has a degree in obstetrics and an MSC . Currently she is working as a midwife in a hospital and she is a professional artist. In her life she was always accompanied by painting .Through it she expressed her feelings with her obvious love for human and nature, especially the water. At an early age in an art workshop she took her first painting lessons and then as an adult at the art department of the community center of her area. Later in her studio she spent several hours painting and brainstorming new ideas ,waiting for inspiration to strike . For her, painting has always been a way of self-concentration and inner meditation in an effort to find herself. In the first years the pencil and the charcoal, then the acrylic paints and later the oil on canvas helped her to depict the bond of human with water, one of the first elements with which human comes in contact with during his embryonic life. The sea next to which she grew up, since her childhood was a source of inspiration and trough time she developed a relationship of love, respect and gratitude with the sea. The need to share her art and her feelings found a place in the painting exhibitions in which she has participated in so far .Those exhibitions take part in Athens and in the islands of Greece. The people who honored her with their trust and love are a motivation for her to continue, giving a deep promise that she will always defend the dream by capturing it in every brushstroke...
