Amputee Painting

Katie Hart is a practicing artist living in Oakland, California. She received her B.A. with a focus in sculpture from the University of California Santa Cruz in 2006. Hart graduated from Holy Names University with a Masters Degree in Urban Art Education, and teaches Kindergarten through sixth grade Art in East Oakland. Her sculptures, paintings, and installations are inquiries into body relationships, physical connection and disconnection, death, burial and mourning. She creates her works in attempts to create a still and silent dialogue with her viewers. Most pieces are meant to be the product of an event that has now passed, acting as a physical history and memory.
