ABOUT THE ARTWORK

It is a painting that begins with architectural origin. The process of my painting is always a process of selection of planes and composition, it is deeply linked to space and layer overlapping as if it were a time capsule limited by the period of the process.

These works are characterized by a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, often created through the smooth layering of paint. The approach to abstraction is influenced by a wide range of references from the artificial or man-made world, including the built environment, such as cities, buildings, and infrastructures. The paintings are often composed of multiple layers that create a sense of depth and complexity. A variety of media and techniques are incorporated, including acrylic paint, Indian ink, and collage elements. Many of the paintings feature gestural marks and lines that suggest movement, energy, and time, while others are more restrained and minimalist in their approach. These abstract paintings invite viewers to engage with the emotional and sensory aspects of art and to explore the various layers of meaning and interpretation that can be found in each piece. However, many of these works have titles that refer to architectural concepts, scientific terms, and poetic metaphors. This suggests an interest not only in the visual qualities of aesthetics but also in their underlying principles and theories. In sum, while the work is certainly abstract in the sense that it does not depict recognizable objects or scenes, it is also deeply influenced by my interest in formal language. This gives the paintings and drawings a unique character and sets them apart from the more purely gestural or expressive forms of abstract painting per se.
