The Panda has been around for millions of years, and in China the panda is a normal icon used on silver, gold and even platinum coins. BZ experiencing Pandas in both Eastern and Western culture knows the way Western culture perceives the Pandas, mainly because they are exhibited in a zoo. BZ illustrates his modern day version of the Panda as Andy Pandy, which is very colorful and animated. Andy Pandy is put in various settings with modern technology, and he is even dressed. The sunglasses that Andy Pandy wears, was a clever idea of BZ’s to illustrate the well known black circles that encircle the panda’s eyes. BZ successfully illustrates and tells a story through Andy Pandy’s glasses, using the reflection. In the Andy Pandy Series, BZ uses not only his signature vibrant colors but also modern and common objects that add a sharp variation. The Andy Pandy Series is colorful and playful, and a perfect example of a modern day twist.
