Anemons Painting

Exuberant, sharp, fragile, baroque anemones! The kids and I were coming back from our petit promenade, all dirty after climbing on the château’s bastions. We stopped at the last flower kiosk to admire the flowers before they would all be packed, and the wonderful Madame Ingrid gave us anemones as a gift, saying they would not last long. The next day, I started to paint them, but some unexpected business interrupted the process. And a day later, I realized the flowers were losing petals in real time. I was painting them while the whole bouquet was disappearing. It’s a watercolor, so you know—you have no second chance, now or never. The flowers are gone now, but I am happy with the painting. If I had had more time and less pressure, it would most likely have turned into overdone work. But it retained all its freshness instead and may bring joy, holding spring colors within it.
