From the series, "Women in Motion" , this is a large oval painting in contrasting and intense colors conveying a woman in agony. The somber, dull and cool colors depict her detriment. The fierce, coarse brushstrokes intensify her mood. This piece was inspired by a very intense and negative period of my personal life. The positioning of the hands, and the shape of the eye, convey the depth of the artists detriment. Notice that the hand is slightly larger than what it should be, suggesting that this body part offers strength, console and stability in such a difficult period.

Silvered photographs allow me to concentrate just on form and shade, so that I can freely select my choice of colors and let these evolve according to my inspired emotional state. There is a constant play of warm and cool in my paintings, and I try to balance these using vibrant shades to envoy the complexity of expression. Ultimately, I let go of realism and allow truism.
