Another Time, A Different Place Painting

To be paired with my original poem The Backersee The Backersee Rhythmic pedals churn storied roads; downward, she coasts along spiny slopes. Gallant breezes push pre-war copper, once a plaything, now, a heaving ellipse. Spruce and fir hug Bavarian roads while distant sirens pierce acrid air. Work is done, her eggs and kindling cones bundled safely in the burlap sack. Spry mouth and flinty eyes ensured visitations remain keyed away from her worn frame. The long commute burned; weary creases eased into her brow and she wipes her cheek. Friedberg, great fortress town of medieval mysteries; dreamlike prisms casting uncertainty on reality. Stopping for rest, she carefully props her week's wages against the rough bark of a beech. Above, brown and white woodlarks circle; staccato whistles skirting sacred space. The dense interior burrows deeply into the land, where silence caresses truth. A lustrous Backersee brimming with ducks, impervious to what lie beyond their plump reach. Unfurling dark starched covering, an easy nudity communes with the water fowl. This prized See a blessed fulcrum toward forward motion.
