Anticipate:Realize Painting

I love fire escapes, and the uniquely San Franciscan view of a row of Victorians against the downtown skyline backdrop from this fire escape made me want to paint it as soon as I saw it. During quarantine lockdown, we were lucky enough to share a fire escape with two of our best friends, Phuong and Joe, and it made all the difference. This image reminds me of the anticipation that built throughout lockdown for what we would do and who we would see and where we would go when we were finally able to emerge. Acrylic paint on stretched canvas, framed in a light wood float frame. The painting is sealed with museum quality, low gloss varnish to protect from dust, dirt, and UV fading.
