About The Artwork
This work is an original mixed media work on paper, as are all of my works. All of my pieces begin as monotypes on to which layers are added through drawing, painting, collage, assemblage, writing and stitching. A richly layered surface is created and a deep history exists within them. Oftentimes I work on multiple pieces simultaneously and elements from one piece become present in others. They are all connected in this common history which informs each piece I create. I am drawn to creating abstract works as each work changes for the viewer (and myself) with each new view. A mood, the light, one's personal experiences all come into play and influences the work as it viewed over time. This element of the experience allows each viewer to be a part of the work creating a dynamic relationship between artist, artwork and viewer.
