Apples and Alabaster Bowl Still Life Painting

This painting was inspired by the beauty that is found in the alabaster bowl itself. It begged to be painted and represented well, with its luminosity and transparency. The apples were a natural fit for the bowl's function, and the table created a magnificent contrast against the colors of the fruit. My hope is that my viewers will continue to appreciate the beauty in simple objects that inspires me. There is so much beauty around us, we just need to stop and reflect upon it. The medium is traditional oil paints done in a classically realistic style. The substrate is a linen canvas. I chose these specifically because of the quality of the materials and the enduring nature of the materials which can survive for hundreds of years.
