About The Artwork

The overall metaphor of my paintings is the color that comes from nature. This piece is one from my “Two-Tone Collection”. The vivid colors that contrast with the serenity of the blue sky adds a twist, giving it a more lively feel. In this painting, the emphasis was on bringing out and utilizing the sweet characteristics of the apricot. Vivid apricot colors set the tone of the picture while imaginative floral patterns are added to further compliment the scene. A large canvas was purposefully chosen to expand the scale of several apricots and flowers in the sky, in hopes that it would stimulate people to have broader perspectives and thoughts. This painting used acrylic paint on canvas and with a matte finish.

Sophia had been practicing art in South Korea, but came to the United States and honed her passion in the United States. She was born in South Korea, and her artist name was created by combining her English name with the initials of her Korean name. Sophia is a self-taught artist. Therefore, the characteristics of her art work are expressed in a more free and unconventional way. The most important metaphors in her work are the colors and emotions provided by nature. Looking at flowers, fields, and natural phenomena subconsciously affect everyone. The pieces created from this lens, hopefully make the viewer feel a variety of emotions. The painters she was inspired by include Van Gogh and Monet of the Impressionist, Sophia pursues abstract art that attempts to express color combinations and senses in a modern way. She mainly uses acrylic paint in her pieces. Some of them have a smooth finish, while others try to express texture through layering. This is expressed differently depending on the subject and the overall color palette of the picture. Sophia hopes that her creations will play a role in making people's living spaces more beautiful. She is very interested in the harmony between art and interior design. She hopes that people will positively interpret her paintings bringing beautiful emotions everytime you look at them.
