This is my free copy of the famous russian icon. I don’t remember when I first saw the icon Archangel Gabriel, but I remember that it impressed me very much. At first I saw it on the photo and only then I came to the Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg to get in touch with its sacrament live. Something attracted me to it, something it said to me with its colors, his eyes, deep as whirlpools. Well, a few years after I wanted to make a free copy of this work. You can see what happened. A little history of finding this icon: The icon was discovered by art historian G. D. Filimonov in 1864 during the dismantling of a “filthy pantry” in a “tent” on the bell tower of Ivan the Great in the Moscow Kremlin, where “dilapidated and unusable” icons were put together for destruction. Entered the Rumyantsev Museum, where it was considered "the work of the circle’s master Simon Ushakov", which was due to the late recording of the icon, the last time carried out in the XVII century. After the disbandment of the Rumyantsev Museum in 1925, the icon as part of the collection of Christian antiquities was transferred to the State Historical Museum, where the restorer EI Bryagin cleared it. This painting is made in a multilayer technique on a board. First, the board is prepared in the same way as the old boards were prepared for writing icons. The picture is painted with acrylic. At the next stage, craquelure varnish, then oil paints and finish varnish. Each work is written from one to two weeks. The frame is also made of wood and covered with beeswax mastic. Mixed media painting, Wood One of a kind artwork Size: 40 × 36 × 2 cm (with frame) 20 х 16 х 2 сm (without frame) This artwork is sold with frame Ready to hang The artwork is titled and signed on the front and also comes with a certificate of authenticity Feel free to contact me: to ask about the works, to clarify the delivery, or just talk about art, I'm glad to see you! I have never received a classical art education, so my pictures are very naive. But I put my perception of the world and all my soul in the heroes of my paintings. I really like working with wood - it is an incredibly live and breathing material that is filled with its unique energy. And this energy, combining with my creative art, is reflected in my paintings. But my special love is the wooden planks that I find in old houses. They are 50-100 years old and they have their own, incomparable energy. It’s nice to even just hold them in your hands: draw along the surface of the board and feel its structure and relief. My works are stored in private collections in the USA, Finland, China and Russia.
