Born in Brazil and currently working in Europe, my painting practice is grounded in a decolonial and non-Eurocentric approach to abstraction. I understand painting not as a neutral or universal language, but as a situated form of knowledge shaped by body, environment, memory, and cultural experience. My work explores abstraction as a practice of embodied perception and intuitive intelligence. Rather than illustrating narratives or concepts, I work through gesture, layering, and material processes as ways of listening to internal and external rhythms. In this process, intuition, sensation, and attention function as forms of knowledge that challenge Western hierarchies privileging rationalism and representation over lived experience. Influenced by Brazilian artistic traditions, Indigenous-informed worldviews, and sensorial ways of relating to nature, I approach painting as a relational and temporal practice. Surfaces are built, dissolved, and reactivated, allowing time, vulnerability, and uncertainty to remain visible. The paintings unfold as perceptual environments rather than fixed images. Through this decolonial perspective, I seek to question Eurocentric models of abstraction based on control, purity, and formal autonomy. Instead, my work affirms painting as a space of presence, interdependence, and embodied awareness, where perception and spirituality are inseparable from artistic research.
