Arising Painting

Born in Edmonton, I grew up in Canada. At the age of 19 I came to my parents’ native Germany. I am a self-taught artist, but drawing and painting has accompanied me since my childhood. While mainly painting / drawing realistic in the past, my focus has recently shifted to mostly abstract or abstracted reality. I draw much of my inspiration from my frequent travels. Having worked as an IT specialist for many years, art was my way of balancing the logical with the creative side within me. In the meantime, my hobby has turned into a calling. As I have not been painting on a professional basis I have not yet had the opportunity to participate on exhibitions. My approach to painting is experimental; I refuse to be limited by any pre-defined style. Driven by the many possibilities materials and colors have to offer, I transform my ideas and feelings onto paper and canvas. Mostly I paint with acrylics but in addition I also paint / draw with water colors, pastels, oil pastels, colored pencils and sometimes with oil. Energy and intuition guide me through my work; I never know in advance what the end result will be.
