Olesia Kovalchuk was born on February, 1978 in Moscow. Her works are inspired by nature, mythological heroes and everyday objects. Metamorphosed human and animal figures shrouded in darkness, suggest the existence of a distorted world-order. They are between representational and abstraction. Olesia experiments with preserving the unexpected forms and colures achieved with this understated medium. Through her paintings she goes beyond the obvious to uncover the symbolism within the human aspect of daily life. Through painting, Olesia faces and deepen the experience of the human body, as a projection of the being, vision of self and her own emotions.
