Jean Davis is based in San Jose, Ca, and has drawn and painted since childhood. She works primarily in oil, using reference photos she takes of her model, often in motion. This enables her to relinquish control over her subject's narrative, and allows her to work intuitively with the medium. Her work is an exploration of ideas of place and permanence, as well as the emergence of ideas and patterns that are not consciously initiated. Awards include the Clyde & Co San Francisco Community Art Award, First Place (2014) and Academy of Art University Spring Show, First Place award in abstract painting (2013).
