Alexander Borissov was born in Moscow in 1963. At the age of 5 he takes drawing classes from his architect grandfather Alexander Anfimov, studying inanimate objects and human skeleton. Alexander Anfimov was a prominent Russian architect designing administrative buildings, theaters and residential houses. One of his buildings is now a listed building of a regional importance. Alexander Anfimov graduated from Kharkiv State Art College and has created an array of stunning landscape paintings in oil and water colours. At the age of 16 Alexander Borissov follows the steps of his artist great grandfather Semion Anfimov with painting Icons of saints on wooden panels. Semion Anfimov, the father of Alexander Anfimov, painted icons and frescos, and worked on restauration of churches. Semyon Anfimov knew how to make artificial marble, that one can’t tell from the natural one, and after the WWII he was invited to the restoration of the Palace of Vorontsov in Odessa. Alexander Borissov inherited his artistic skills from his artist grandparents and has embarked on an artistic career to perfect them. After moving to London in the 1990s Alexander produces an array of impressionist images. In 2004 he becomes a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild. His artworks are exhibited in London galleries at Kensington Church Street, Canary Wharf, at Chelsea Art Fair and at Kensington Olympia. On the quest of artistic liberty in 2006 Alexander switches from figurative art to abstract-expressionist technique. In 2008 Alexander moves to Switzerland. Painting in his art studio in Erlenbach, as well as in Swiss Alps and at international locations in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Maldives, Sweden, Russia, UK and USA he creates large-size paintings in abstract expressionist style. Alexander’s paintings have been exhibited in different countries in Europe and sold to many customers around the world.
