The blues of this painting are totally inspired by the blue eyes of a little Siamese cat I met in Mexico. They were so pure and calming. I took those colors and created the flowing movement of the most calming thing on Earth, the ocean. If you look close in the center you'll see the thick chunks of oil paint. (See detail photos) BTW, her name was Azula and cats always are an inspiration in my designs.

I created this painting in one day. It flowed out of my body to the canvas in one day. When I stepped back for a good look I realized I had created the transformation of the Earth from the gathering of flowing waters. I was completely calm and focused in this creation.

This painting has both smooth and highly textured areas made by a palette knife. The thick areas are almost .25" deep. The edges are finished and my signature is located on the bottom right corner and the back of the canvas. A hanging wire is attached.

As a minimalist artist, I find inspiration in capturing the essence of Earth's organic elements through silhouettes and simplified shapes. I celebrate the inherent beauty of rock formations, flowers, and water, blending well-defined shapes with expansive negative spaces to create intriguing compositions. ~~ Bio Laura Welshans is a multi-media abstract artist residing in Little Rock, Arkansas.
