About The Artwork
As the days edge closer to my much feared 40th Birthday I have achieved the impossible. I've created a painting I'd feel comfortable putting out there without a carefully prepared explanation or statement explaining it's evolution. This painting was about me learning to feel comfortable as me. It was a bit of a process, but art saves the day once again and I'm just happy I got to do my thing and dance all over this 'coming of age' masterpiece. I wanted to celebrate texture, gestural actions and the links to my past life as a street painter. To me this painting marks a visible shift in my process and the ultimate pursuit of absolute abstraction. Formalizing the connection from street to commercial gallery and ultimate acceptance personally. Having been previously shy identifying a link between the two disciplines . I've previously shied away from listing serious artworks here, thinking anything of substance would not be suitable for online sale. However I've come to understand it's expected. With that said, happy to discuss this painting in more depth offline if desired. :)
