I was born in 1958 in Moscow, finished the school in Tallinn. Further was MSU, the faculty of biology. I’ve studied painting since my childhood, at first since I was six I’ve learned it in the Tallinn painter’s workshop, it was a medieval variant of a disciple and apprentice, later I studied the Mongol and Tibet wall painting for a couple of years, after what during the next eighteen months studied the Persian diminuty in the city of Samarkand. All the life of our family was connected with the East in this r that degree. My grandfather A. I. Terenojkin was an archaeologist, he digged up (unearth) the Khorezm kingdom, Afrasiab (the ancient Samarkand), my mother worked as an historian and an archaeologist in Tuva, I’ve dangled (wandered, rushed about, knocked about) in expeditions since my childhood. Looking at Pamir from the North for the first time I had a very deep feeling, that it’s the northern border of a giant mountain land which end with India in the South. So the East is not an exotica for me, but just my life, my field. I’ve spent more than twenty years in the travellings around the Middle East, have walked around almost all the Pamir and Tjan-Shan, and when it became possible, when the borders were opened, started going to India, Nepal, Shri Lanka and so on. I’m busy with (occupied with, engaged in, work at, work on) painting, photography, video-art, computer graphics, I’ve to publish articles and notes in different editions: people are interested in all this, they ask about it. Besides taking part in different group excibition projects, I’ve organized the whole row of personal excibitions in Moscow, Tallinn, South Afrca, USA and so on. My paintigns are found both in private and corporative collections.
