My paintings are raw and direct interpretations of what I see around me. It makes me reach beyond the boundaries of the ordinary. They express the passion and energy I feel for my subjects. My whimsical grouping of characters and animals invite the viewer into imaginative worlds both strange and familiar. Whether a painting, work on paper, ceramics, or glass sculpture, each work consists of a series of visual responses, of acts committed, displaying a connection to my vocabulary, beliefs, and a connection to my understanding of dynamics and relationships in nature. Born in Prague, Jiri graduated from the Prague University, faculty of architecture.In 1981 he opened with his wife Ivanka JB Studio Art Gallery in the old part of Sydney “The Rocks”. In 1986 he has been invited to Los Angeles to exhibit and teach and after only two years in USA he become recognized as a highly skilled artist.Jiri has won several awards and is represented in private and corporate collections in Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, UK, USA, Germany, Singapore, Canada and Japan.
