About The Artwork
This is one of my early paintings and looking back I can see how I was influenced by simple shapes and patterns which is a recurring theme in my artwork. The style of painting is simple using thick oil paints and textures. The colour pallet is mainly reds browns and greens offset by the white blossom. White always creeps into my paintings albeit sky and the white blossom. I have always admired Van Gogh and his influence is somehow shown by the thick applied oil paint. This is a large painting and is framed with a simple light wood frame which enhances it. It is painted on gesso primed hardboard. LESS

My childhood was spent in Sussex where I developed a love of the rolling hills and country side. After Art college I moved to London where I continued painting. I discovered pastel painting a few years ago which I love for its brilliant pure colours. I found the light and rich colours of the South of France could be caught using using this medium. After visiting New York, where I had an exhibition , I was very interested in the awesome buildings and am currently painting a series of cityscapes of New York and London.Patricia is influenced by the French Impressionists.Working in oils and pastels, producing still lifes, landscapes and nudes of scenes that range from Twickenham to St.Tropez, Patricia's resulting work reflects the vibrant colours and brilliant light of the South of France.Patricia was recently made a member of the Society of Women Artists.
